“Being of service to others is what brings true happiness.”

My journey toward becoming a Realtor began with my experiences of many moves while serving in the military. Not only did I deal with a lot of Realtors (good, and not so good), but I fell in love with learning about homes and communities in general.
Home layouts, functionality, community design, the history of how communities have evolved over the decades. (check out GeoOttawa and scroll through the satellite imagery.) It’s all fascinating!

I get a lot of weird looks and surprised questions when people realize I used to pilot 20,000 lb helicopters and land them on the back of Naval ships in the middle of the ocean. It was an exciting first career, and one that I look back on with lots of great memories.
But beyond piloting a helicopter, I did master many transferrable skills that serve me well as a Realtor. I had several postings where I was in charge of complex planning and scheduling (whether a fleet of aircraft or the Minister of National Defence’s schedule). I also mastered multi-tasking skills and prioritization when things were constantly changing on the fly, which they always seemed to be.
So, while military pilot to Realtor may not seem an ordinary path, it ended up being a great transition for me. I am honoured to have served my Country for 22 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and I am now proud to have assisted dozens of military families and members as they relocate to and from Ottawa. (Plus lots of other people, too!)
